Hey all, GoodShibe here!
You may have missed it in casual browsing but wootmon
submitted a really interesting post here about, oh, 6 hours ago that didn't really get the attention it deserves. Facebook app 'hacking' uncovers payment option: report
Everyone who needs to be in the know about cryptocurrencies is already in the know - Your Facebooks, your Apples and whatnot. But the inherent problem, of course, with cryptocurrencies is that it is specifically designed to cut out the middle man.
No more gatekeepers.
No more ludicrous fees.
But, of course, in the eyes of these companies, that's a problem. The system that exists exists so that everyone along the chain gets theirs.
What's going on now is that there's a concerted effort to dress your credit card up like a crypto, to slip into something 'a little more comfortable', pretending to make your money a bit easier to use... but not really.
It's all about maintaining a whole different sort of chain.
Making sure that everyone along the way gets to take their cut.
And, sure, it'll be fractions of pennies. Or not. But they're still putting their fingers on your message.
Because that's really the core of this thing. Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin -- all of us -- what's been created here is a way to communicate with one another, financially, with no one in the way.
Could you imagine sending out a message to someone and it doesn't entirely get where it's going because someone else wants their 'piece of it'?
Cryptos are awesome because it puts the power squarely back in your hands.
It's your money. Do with it what you will.

Enjoying someone's Twitch stream or a great a piece of art or a silly meme or a wicked-smart comment?
There's no one in your way.
There's a whole lot of work being done right now to make great-grandpa fiat do the backflips, cartwheels and somersaults necessary to pull this kind of thing off.
And they've already run into a real problem: There already exists a way to do it easier, faster and cheaper.
But they have no control over it.
They don't get their cut.
And this is the true, core problem with getting places like Steam and Facebook and whatnot to integrate Dogecoin or Litecoin or Bitcoin... anything.
How do we get around this? Can we? Should we?
Maybe the answer is to focus on those who accept us, wholeheartedly and help them. Do what we can to make those companies grow and prosper.
In the end, it's all about spreading the word. Making enough noise.
Being out there and available with a truly better way.
Because once someone discovers that they can send $50 to a friend but only $48.50 is getting there, maybe they're going to look for a better, easier, cheaper way to make it happen.
And we'll be here, waiting.
